Classes 2019

 

Listed Below are our Classes for 2018 to help you decide exactly where your bike fits in, be it a Honda GP125, Kawasaki ZXR400, a Honda Hornet, a Suzuki SV650 or a fire breathing Superbike. Whatever modern type of bike you've got, we've probably got a class that you can compete successfully in!

1) GP1 - ELITE
This is a truly Open Class for large capacity machines up to 1300cc swept volume and the Norton Rotary (nominally 699cc). Minimum weights at post race controls are 125kg for 4-stroke machines and 95kg for 2-stroke machines. Tyre choice and rim sizes are free at all times.
Rider Eligibility = Any GP1 rider not eligible for one of the sub-classes below. This is the Premier GP1 class.


2) GP1 - SPORTSMAN
Technical specification as GP1 Elite.
Rider Eligibilty = Open to Intermediate-Novice, Clubman or newly qualified National Licence holders who have never competed in a British, European or World Championship event. Sportsman riders also score points in the main GP1 Elite championship.


3) GP1 - CUP
Technical specification as GP1 Elite.
Rider Eligibilty = Open to Intermediate-Novice licence holders or certain newly qualified Clubman Licence holders who are yet to score a top 50% race finish and did not hold a race licence prior to 1st January 2018, plus those who qualify outside the GP1 Sportsman Elite grid at any event.

 

4) GP1 CLASSIC SUPERBIKES
A class for large capacity sportsbikes predominantly from the pre-2000 era including the 1998-2001 Yamaha R1, Suzuki GSXR750 K1 - K3 Ducati 998, Kawasaki ZX9R and the Honda Fireblades prior to the advent of the 1000cc model. A more extensive list of eligible models can be found within the Technical Regulation documents (but this is not a complete list).

 

12) GOLDEN ERA SUPERBIKE CUP (joining GP1 Classic Superbikes for 2019)
Superbikes of the classic era (designed and produced between 1985-2000 homologation years) 750cc 4-cylinder and 1000cc twin cylinder models as in the period. A list of eligible models can be found within the Technical Regulation documents (but this is not a complete list) collecting points for the annual championship cup. This class can also win overall race podium places and points in GP1 Classic Superbikes.

 

5) GP2 - SUPERTWINS (inc Moto 3 and Supermonos to 750cc)
Middleweight machines: 750cc 1 cylinder, 700cc 2 cylinder, any air cooled twin cylinder motorcycle up to 820cc provided it adheres to the supplementary regulations and 2-stroke machines up to 400cc (all any frame, any tyre, but minimum weight limits apply). 400cc 4-stroke 4-cylinder production based machines will also be allowed on this grid as a caveat, but will not win podiums or championship points. A GP2 Cup class will be run alongside the main championship aimed primarily at young riders. This will include Kawasaki 400cc production twin cylinder machines, 250cc production race machines (Moriwaki 250MHD) and 125cc GP specification machines.

 

6) GP2 - STOCKTWINS 450-650
Middleweight machines based on production bikes in the following capacities:
up to 650cc 2 cylinder 4-stroke machines. The frame, engine and swing-arm must come from the same homologated model but all other modifications are allowed. Road Legal Treaded Tyres or Full Wets are permitted.

 

7) GP3 - THUNDERSPORT SUPERTEENS
A class for Junior riders from 12 - 21 years of age (If a rider is NOT 21 before the 1st of March in any given year, they are eligible to enter this class) competing on any production based machine with a 12 or 13 year old novice permission. This includes all Aprilia RS125 production machines, KTM RC390, Kawasaki 250 or 300 Ninja, Yamaha 3, Cagiva Mito 125, Yamaha TZR125, Suzuki Inazuma 250, Metrakit 80 (on treaded tyres), Aprilia RRV450R 4-stroke machine (specifically as restricted to 32bhp by IN Competition which will retain a sealed ECU and throttle body restrictors as fitted by IN Competition) and any other machine not yet produced that is eligible for a novice to ride at 13yrs old under ACU regulations.


8) 600 - ELITE
To ACU Formula 600 specifications with any road legal tyre allowed. Full wets are also permitted when a “Wet Race” has been declared.
Rider Eligibilty = Any 600cc rider not eligible for one of the sub-classes below. This is the Premier 600 class.


9) 600 - SPORTSMAN
To ACU Formula 600 specifications with any road legal tyre allowed. Full wets are also permitted when a “Wet Race” has been declared.
Rider Eligibilty = Open to Clubman licence holders or newly qualified National Licence holders who have never competed in a British, European or World Championship event. Sportsman riders also score points in the main 600 Elite championship**


10) PRE-NATIONAL - SPORT 600
To ACU Formula 600 specifications with any road legal tyre allowed. Full wets are also permitted when a “Wet Race” has been declared.
Rider Eligibilty = Open to Clubman licence holders who have never competed in a British, European or World Championship event.


11) PRE-NATIONAL - FRESHMAN 600
To ACU Formula 600 specifications with any road legal tyre allowed. Full wets are also permitted when a “Wet Race” has been declared.
Rider Eligibilty = Open to Novice or Intermediate-Novice licence holders who did not hold a race licence prior to 1st January 2018.


12) GOLDEN ERA SUPERBIKE (joining GP1 Classic Superbikes for 2019)
Superbikes of the classic era (designed and produced between 1985-2000 homologation years) 750cc 4-cylinder and 1000cc twin cylinder models as in the period. A list of eligible models can be found within the Technical Regulation documents (but this is not a complete list).


13) GOLDEN ERA SUPERSPORT
A class for 600cc 4-cylinder and 750cc 2 cylinder Supersport machines designed and commencing production before 1st January 2000. A full list of eligible machines is contained in the technical specifications. The tyre regulations are as per Formula 600. List of eligible models can be found within the Technical Regulation documents (but this is not a complete list).


14) GOLDEN ERA STEELSPORT
A class for Supersport machines designed and commencing production before 1st January 2000 and having a mild steel beam or trellis frame as standard. The tyre regulations are as per Formula 600. List of eligible models can be found within the Technical Regulation documents.


15) THUNDERSPORT 500 - ELITE - SPORTSMAN - SENIORS - FRESHMAN
A series for near standard 500cc 4-stroke parallel twins - Honda CB500, Suzuki GS500 & Kawasaki ER5 (IMPORTANT: look out for new 2019 regs for the Kawasaki ER5 which will make her more competitive!) - within a strictly controlled formula.
Dunlop control tyres in both wet and dry patterns ensure a level playing field. This class also has a Thundersport500 Seniors category, open to riders aged 40 years or more on 1st March 2019, an intermediate Sportsman category (acceptance based on the Race Director's discretion and/or rider experience) and a Thundersport500 Freshman category open to Novice or Intermediate-Novice licence holders who did not hold a race licence prior to 1st January 2018.
